Blue Street Jazz Band Over 20 years old, the Blue Street Jazz Band has been one of the leading forces on the Dixieland circuit for a number of years. The Fresno, CA band was formed by Forrest Helmick and Dave Ruffner in 1983. They have been one of the most innovative groups in traditional jazz playing original songs and creatively conceived arrangements along with the musical expertise of each band member. The band showcases Sherri Colby who has been singing with the band since she was 13 years old. (Now she's working on her PhD.) Blue Street is known for their fast-paced, energetic and fun filled performances. The bands personnel are: Dave Ruffner, leader and trombone; Forrest Helmick on trumpet; Sam Rocha playing string bass and sousaphone, Rick Canfield on drums, David Hull is playing piano, Nathan Ketner on reeds, Matt Bottel, banjo and guitar and Sherri Colby, vocals.
