NEW SPONSORSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

The Mammoth Lakes Jazz Jubilee is excited about starting a new program called the "NOTE"ables. This will be your opportunity to help out a community event that experienced a significant financial downturn this past July. Unfortunately, and likely due to the overall economy, the projected income fell short of our plan, while expenses increased. The good news is that over the past years of the event we have built up a reserve so the Jubilee will be able to continue for at least one more year.

Besides bringing a wide variety of music to Mammoth over 5 days, and a large financial benefit to the community, the Jubilee has also contributed:

• Over $60,000 in scholarships to graduating Mammoth High seniors
  
• Instruments and many instrument parts to the local music program, including Clarinets, Saxophones, trumpets, trombones, keyboards, and even drums donated over the years.
  
• One year when Mammoth Unified School District could not afford a 2nd semester music teacher for the elementary school, the Jubilee paid for that instructor.
  

The Jubilee also sponsors a week long Jazz Camp for 13-17 year olds. This camp is held the week before the Jazz Jubilee. Over the 19 years of the camp and music workshops, many local music students have participated, along with students from out of town, with many of them receiving scholarships to help fund their Mammoth musical experience. Some campers have developed into impressive professional musicians including Jason Wanner and Bria Skonberg, while others have become teachers such as Megan Guffey and Ryan Heimlich.

Due to financial considerations, some changes must be made. There may not be as many bands, or as many venues, and different locations may be found around town in 2011. All options are being considered.
